Nearly 80% of U.S. Adults Online – (yawn)

According to a recent Harris Poll, nearly four in five adults in the U.S. are now online. That may be surprising to some, and good news to others. The real point should be: who cares. Essentially, these statistics gain nice headlines but are pretty self serving, proving what everyone already knows – the Internet is important. We should spend our time surveying how many hours people waste dealing with spam, how online video is taking people away from TV and newspapers, or how the Web-based delivery of information is transforming education; those would be more compelling perspectives.
